The 7th Annual Diabetes Conference 2016

Diabetes Malaysia had conducted a national conference with a theme of towards better diabetes care on 29-31 July 2016  at Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur with a broad range topics to manage diabetes among Malaysians. More than 300 delegates attended including delegates from other countries.

The 3-day conference discusses topics like the new Diabetes Clinical Practice Guideline, diabetes in primary care, rise in diabetes prevalence, complications, medication, approaches to manage diabetes, challenges to a good management and new advances in diabetes.

The conference is also advocating a few debates such as "genes only play a small role", "carbohyrate counting is superior to calorie counting" and " sulfonylureas should not be used in obese patients".

Apart from these topics, managing diabetes in elderly and how to empower people with diabetes were given proper attention in the slot meet the experts.

To those involve in the management of diabetes in Malaysia,  understanding and application the new CPG on the Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus 5th edition (Malaysian CPG)  is a must.
