In 2014, Diabetes Malaysia Terengganu branch had participated in a program called Glucerna Challenge Me with Abbott Nutrition.The program took place in Batu Buruk Beach Resort, Kuala Terengganu for 12 weeks duration. However, the real days were on 23.8.2014, 28.9.2014 and 1.11.2014 with around 50 participants. The program started with registration, health screening (BMI, HbA1c, blood pressure, and blood glucose),breakfast, lectures on diet, exercise; discussion with diabetes educators, and tea break.
Based on this program, those who score high in reducing their HbA1c will be given prizes. Two participants from Terengganu branch won consolation prizes for their successful attempt in reducing their HbA1c for over 12 -week duration.
The two are:
1. Mdm Salbiah binti Zakaria (from 8.3% to 6.7%)
2. Mr Wan Ahmad bin Ismail (from 9.6% to 8.10%)
The consolation prize consists of 2 cans of Glucerna and a pedometer.Other participant who attended 3 rounds of program were given free glucometer by Abbott Nutrition.
The winners will be given their prizes by the committee during the society's annual general meeting in February,2015. Congratulations!
